This is a beautiful knife and sheath combination. I picked up the Camillus black Titanium/440 bladed knife specifically to make a nice sting ray sheath for it. The knife is "vintage", which is Etsy-Speak for "pre-owned". It looks virtually unused, though. I don't think it has ever been sharpened since the factory and it is very sharp! The titanium blade is light and moves well; and the grip is solid and indexes to my hand properly. To quote a famous blade master, "Eet will cut!"
Since I bought the knife specifically to make a sheath, I tried to make it a nice one. I used top quality vegetable tanned leather from Whickett and Craig and inlaid it with a shiny black stingray skin. It looks very cool! I hand tooled, and stamped portions of the sheath for a nice contrast and added a diamond-shape stud for contrast. The sheath is assembled with a combination of machine and hand stitching. I bolstered the edges of the sheath to protect the stitching from the (sharp!) knife blade, which made machine stitching the sensible thing to do. All the rest of the work is hand stitched. The knife is secured by a single sturdy strap that wraps around the grip and is held by a snap. This is a piece that I expect will last for a very long time, and hopefully will be handed down to the next generation.
The overall size of the knife is 10"" with the blade 4 3/4" v 1 1/2". The handle is rubber with a lanyard hole. It is a Camillus brand Titanium 440 blade, which I no longer see in their current catalog, so I am not sure of the age. The original nylon factory sheath is included and is in like-new condition.
The sheath hangs down 9 1/2" from the belt.
